Students of the Saudi Art and Design College in Jeddah organized an annual exhibition of ceramic art work under the supervision of Dr. Mannal Al-Saleh, the ceramic art expert at the college.
Dr. Saleh told Arab News that the four-day exhibition was inaugurated on Sunday by Dr. Nada Hassan Al-Qurashi, the dean of the Faculty of Art and Design in the presence of deans of other colleges, heads of departments, and Dr. Wadiah Poker, head of the Graphic Arts department at the college.
She explained that the exhibition introduced students’ ceramic work which they learnt at the college, including decorations, models and murals that can be installed in public and private gardens.
She further said that the students’ work reflected the local cultural colors and environment and that they displayed different designs, models or murals which will help them enter the market of interior designing and decorations. “Their work can be displayed in government agencies, public parks, resorts, recreational places and children’s playgrounds and rooms,” she added.
Dr. Saleh said that the students had also experimented with different materials including colored glass and coatings applied to the ceramic art works.
Praising the students’ productivity, Dr. Nada Hassan Al-Qurashi, dean of the university said that the art works were a step toward the students entering the labor market and that the college will continue to support their endeavors by inviting them to put up exhibitions to display their work.
