Mobily has delivered 60 percent of the population gatherings to be covered within the two projects of the Universal Service Fund (VII and VIII) signed with the CITC (Communications and Information Technology Commission) to develop 31 provinces in the Central and Western regions within the CITC plans aiming to provide telecommunications and data services to many of the villages and remote hamlets with low population density.
The Project VII of the Universal Service Fund aims to develop voice communications and broadband services in 12 provinces in Riyadh region and 13 provinces in Qassim region. This project includes the provinces of Ermah, Al-Majma’ah, Zulfi, Shaqraa, Thadiq, Al-Ghat, Dawadmi, Afif, Al-Gweiyyah, Riyadh, Huraymila, Dharmah, Al-Deriyya and Murat in Riyadh region, and the provinces of Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar Rass, Al-Mozneb, Al-Bekeereyya, Al-Badaei, Al-Asyah, Al-Nabhaniah, Uyun Al Jiwa, Riyadh Al-Khabra, Al-Shomasia, Uklat Alsughoor and Darbah in Qassim region. For this end 216 towers were constructed, and 197 existing towers were upgraded to serve 1147 population gatherings representing more than 60 percent of the targeted overall population gathering required to be covered.
Whereas project VIII of the Universal Service Fund aims to develop voice communications and broadband services in 6 provinces in Makkaha, namely Al-Khorma, Taif, Raniah, Terbam Al-Moyah, and Meesan.
