Smash Arabia Year-End Invitational In-House tilt a big success

As the year is about to end, Smash Arabia Badminton Club organized the 2014 Year-End Invitational In-House Tournament. The three weekends tournament ended last Thursday at the Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Olympia courts.
Different clubs in Jeddah participated in the event namely Battledores, Desert Falcons, Fleeq Badminton Club, Friday Boiz and Babes Badminton Club, Hataw, Indian Tigers, Jaguars Badminton Club, Jaunty, KAIA Badminton Club, Kamag-Anak Incorporated (KINC), My Badminton Academy (MBA), Pinoy Badminton Barkadas (PBB), Pinoy Harley Owners Group (PHOG), Slashers Badminton Club, and Smaikers Next Gen Badminton Club.
Players fought hard to emerge with the bragging rights in each of the 14 categories/levels competed.
Raffle prizes were drawn as the tournament progressed courtesy of friends of Smash Arabia together with AVON Beauty Arabia, Salam Medical, Ghassan Motors (Lamborghini - Rizvie Taj), Ayoe Pecson, Mark Villanueva, Gilbert Gensis, Noel Ramos, Tony and Lily Acosta.
The winners of the top raffle prizes of one Yonex racquet voucher and 32-inch Sony Bravia were Michael Galope of Jaguars Badminton Club and MJ Talauan of KAIA Badminton Club respectively.
A special trophy was each awarded to the following: Don Generoso (Friday Boiz and Babes Club) Most Improved Player (male), Sarah Gangano (Friday Boiz and Babes Club) Most Improved Player and Jaguars Badminton Club under Chairman Gerry Rabang Most Supportive Club.
In an exhibition match featuring Jeddah’s top players, Rico Gonzales (Independent) and Ryan Delos Reyes (Friday Boiz and Babes) won against Mitchie Cruz (MBA) and Jun Cabradilla (Smaikers).
Trophy, cash prize, and gift packs were handed out to the champions as well as trophy and gift pack for the finalists.

Men’s Doubles Flight 1-A Klay Dirampaten and Jun Cabradilla (MBA and Smaikers), Men’s Doubles Flight 2-B Mohammed Darwish and Nasser (Fleeq), Men’s Doubles Flight 3-C Dajo Cabradilla and Angelo Alejo (MBA), Women’s doubles Flight 3-C Sarah Villar and Charmaine Chua (Fleeq and Falcons), Mixed Doubles Flight 3-C Pam Daksala and Charmaine Chua (Falcons), Men’s Doubles Flight 4-D Aldrin Medina and Mike Toledano (MBA), Women’s Doubles Flight 4-D Gheng Cabradilla and Angela Atis (Smaikers and MBA), Mixed Doubles Flight 4-D Faisal Ibrahim and Gheng Cabradilla (Ind and Smaikers), Men’s Doubles Flight 5-E Jonathan Oanes and Mark Pangilinan (KINC), Women’s Doubles Flight 5-E Shiela Cortez and Jasmin Ching (KAIA), Men’s Doubles Flight 6-F Egai Garcia and Don Generoso (Friday Boiz and Babes), Women’s Doubles Flight 6-F Carla Denosena and Farhana Matanog, and Mixed Doubles Flight 6-F Eminard Cabral and MJ Talauan (KAIA).

Organizing this highly successful event is the Smash Arabia Badminton Club under the leadership of Chairman Bob Fernandez with Vice-Chairwoman Grace Villanueva, Treasurer Joseff Santiago, Secretary Abby Asiatico, Technical Tem Hernandez, Program and Events Norie Bundoc, Logistics Gerry Jancinal, Membership Mark Villanueva and Team Manager Wilson Maata. Sound system was handled by Eko Yingyom.

The club is looking forward to a more fruitful year ahead.
