Filipinos in the Kingdom have expressed happiness over the arrival of Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) representatives to conduct the Special Professional Licensure Board Examinations in Riyadh and Alkhobar from Oct. 3 to 5.
“For the first time, examination for teachers will be conducted by the group, in addition to other professional courses, such as nursing, engineering and architecture, among others,” Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago told Arab News.
The PRC representatives, headed by Director Josephine V. Liamzon, called on the Filipino envoy, Minister and Consul General Marshall Louis M. Alferez on Monday.
In the Saudi capital, Cenon C. Sagadal Jr. of RCBC-Telemoney and community leader, said that administering the examinations in the Kingdom will save a lot of time for Filipinos, who will no longer need to head home to take them.
“They could devote the time they spend traveling studying instead and stay with their families,” he said.
In Alkhobar, Eduardo Rodriguez, also a community leader, added that conducting the examinations in the Kingdom shows the concern the Philippine government has for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
In Buraidah, Dionisio B. Tabuco, Jr., also a community leader, said that it is heartwarming for PRC representatives to have taken the time to travel to the Kingdom for the examinations.
“The examinations may just be part of job for the PRC representatives but it means a lot for OFWs,” he said.
Two PRC groups will conduct examinations from Oct. 3 to 5.
The Riyadh group will be headed by Eugenio L. Riego ll, a lawyer, while the Alkhobar group will be led by Director Liamzon.
Prior to the examination, registration was held at the Philippine Embassy from Sept. 9 to Oct. 1.
This year, the PRC is expecting 656 examinees from Riyadh and 406 in Alkhobar.
The examinations will be held at the International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR) and International Philippine School in Alkhobar (IPSA).
Aside from representatives from the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), volunteers from the Philippine Professional Organization (PPO) will also assist PRC representatives.
