HCDR: Minimize travel for Riyadh Metro work

The High Commission for the Development of Riyadh (HCDR) has been placing ads both in the Arabic and English press to create awareness among motorists about the traffic impact likely to be created by the multi-billion metro project.
There are also ongoing road rehabilitation and expansion projects taking place in the capital, including construction of overfly bridges and underground roads.
Riyadh Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdullah recently called on motorists to limit movement inside the city to ease traffic jams since the ongoing project will take 48 months to complete.
According to HCDR, traffic detours on Olaya Street, one of the busiest main roads in the capital, were in place on Saturday.
According to the advisory, traffic on Olaya street will be directed southbound only, between Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz and Prince Sultan bin Salman streets, while local traffic will move northbound between major intersections to access commercial strips and residential neighborhoods east of Olaya.
HCDR has launched a major awareness drive, including participation and organizing exhibitions, media awareness through advertisements to spell out the impact of traffic congestion and the promising outcomes of the project on the economy when it is done.
“The project is bound to generate major benefits for residents,” HCDR said.
The implementing body will ensure the smooth and safe flow of traffic in the city, minimizing the inconveniences caused by constructions wherever possible.
