Expats donate blood

A group of Asian expatriates organized a blood donation campaign in Qatif in the Eastern Province on Friday. This is the 36th successive campaign that the group has organized.
The event sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ) generated a massive response in the area. The camp, which lasted from noon to 4 p.m., attracted 39 people who donated 34 units of blood to the Qatif Central Hospital Blood Bank.
The blood was donated under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Hussain Al-Abdullah, blood bank supervisor, who lent his full support to the volunteers.
The head of TNTJ in Dammam, Umar Farooq, said the group organizes these camps according to the Qur’anic teaching which states: “Whoever saves a life will be as if he has saved the entire mankind.”
So far the group has organized 36 camps in Alkhobar, Dammam, Qatif and Jubail hospitals. TNTJ continues to be the No. 1 organization for the last eight years and hospital authorities have awarded more than 15 awards to TNTJ commending its services to the health sector.
“TNTJ continues to be the No. 1 organization for blood donation in Tamil Nadu as well as in the GCC countries,” Farooq said.
