The administrative court in the Board of Grievances in Jeddah has forced the Ministry of Civil Services to compensate a Saudi woman with a sum of SR950,000 for an error in her personal data entry 10 years ago.
The court obliged the Civil Service to nominate the woman for an educational job depending on her scientific qualifications and prior experience.
A source said an employee in the Ministry of Civil Services entered incorrect personal information about the plaintiff on the ministry’s website, which registered her in the fifth level for a teaching post in the Eastern Province.
The woman was registered as a teacher working in the Eastern Province, while Jadara, the ministry’s website, only allows employees from the eighth grade and up to be registered there. The case was taken to the Board of Grievances which took 30 sessions to give its verdict.
The source said the ministry has registered a confession of the error from the employee through the court sessions.
The citizen has a file and a number of the vacancy in the ministry. The Ministry of Education has denied its role in finding a job opportunity for the plaintiff.
“Litigation has been conducted in the administrative court in Jeddah and the woman has been granted compensation for the damages resulting from the ministry’s fault, in addition to dropping her name from Jadara, and registering in it again,” he said.
The source said the court calculated the compensation amount according to the salary scale for the period in question, which is her legal right according to her scientific qualification, since the woman had a bachelor's degree from the History Department of the Um Al-Qura University in 1995.
The source said the plaintiff lives in Makkah, while her judicial documents are located in Jeddah, which caused the court to compensate her with SR33,000 for attending 30 court sessions, bringing her total compensation to SR 950,000.
The plaintiff demanded to be appointed in Makkah, and said she should be treated like her colleagues because she has experience in teaching adults. She said she has surpassed her employment age because of an error which was not her fault.
