Pakistani students learn reasons behind their country’s creation

The president of Nazria-e-Pakistan (Pakistan’s Perspective) Safiya Ishaq organized a program in Jeddah with the slogan “Awareness of Pakistan” for the students of the Pakistan International Schools Jeddah to inform them about the reasons for the creation of Pakistan, the two-nation theory and Pakistan’s ideology.
The chief guests of the program were Najia Aizaz, wife of the secretary of Pakistan foreign affairs minister and Afshan Khokher, wife of the Pakistan consul general.
The Nazria-e-Pakistan forum (The two-nation theory forum) in Jeddah is trying to keep alive the reasons and ideology of Pakistan based on the two-nation theory for the new generation to understand the importance of Pakistan’s creation as a separate state for the Muslims.
Ishaq explained the ideology of Pakistan and its importance. She highlighted Allama Iqbal’s mission and his perception of Muslims and Hindus being two different nations for whom it was impossible to live together in one country.
The two-nation theory states that the Muslim identity in the Indian subcontinent is Islam rather than language or ethnicity. Therefore, Indian Hindus and Muslims are two distinct peoples, different in every way.
“This is the main reason for the Muslims of the subcontinent to desire a separate state for which they struggled very hard and finally achieved the nation you have today which is Pakistan,” Ishaq explained.
Dr. Tasneem Zaman also gave a lecture on “The Ideology of Pakistan” where she explained the importance of the establishment of Pakistan.
“We are known as Pakistani or people who inhabit the land of Pakistan. For many of us, we are Pakistani because our parents are Pakistani. But Pakistan is greater and far beyond a land or a passport. Pakistan is an identity based on an ideology which embraces Islam as is religion,” she explained. When the Muslims arrived in the Indian subcontinent in 712 AD they were welcomed by Indian Muslims who were suffering. Their arrival gave them peace of mind,” she said.
In her lecture she further said that Muslims ruled India for hundreds of years because the Indians recognized Islam as superior religion. There was no caste system or discrimination of any kind but when the British took over, the Hindus began to dominate. The lives of Muslims were threatened, there were no jobs and everything the Muslims had was destroyed.
“We needed a place where we could have a society based on our faith. Our faith makes us distinct and Pakistan gave us hope for a new world. Though we started with nothing, we prospered. Our greatest achievement is that we as Pakistanis have established our own identity. But it is now the responsibility of the next generation to carry on this legacy,” she said.
The students also presented a play on “Hum Zinda Qaum hain” and “Lab pay Atee ahi Dua bun kay Tamna mayree”.
Shahina Arshad presented sayings of Allama Iqbal when Najma Ijaz a poet presented poetry on the importance of Pakistan.
