JEDDAH: Confirming the true allegiance to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation, chaired by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, sponsored the Jeddah Marathon Club’s run on the 9th anniversary of the pledge of allegiance to the king.
In an atmosphere full of energy and enthusiasm, the climb took place on 26th April by running a complete cycle around the Kingdom Tower in Riyadh followed by running up the stairs to the highest point of the tower at the 99th floor in a time of 22 minutes 44 secs. The grand finale was raising the Saudi Arabian flag, the image of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the flag of Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation from the highest point of their climb. This event is a strong validation of the Foundation’s continuous focus on the role of youth and sports.
Furthermore, an attendance of 21 elementary students from Kingdom Schools who brought much joy while cheering the runners as they arrived, in solidarity with their cause. Upon the completion of the challenge, Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation presented the team members with certificates of appreciation as part of the Foundation’s efforts in increasing awareness of health and sports in Saudi Arabia.
The Jeddah Marathon Club team participated in several successful sports events such as climbing high places locally and globally. The running team consisted of: Sami Abdullah Rashid, Ali Salman Al-Ahdal, Khalid Mohammed Yamani, Murad Salman Al-Ahdal and Salman Ali Al-Ahdal.
Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation was represented by Ms. Al-Anoud Al-Mohammadi, project executive manager, and Amal Algrafi, operation manager.
