Hospital probed for not reporting suspected case

The Health Affairs Directorate in the Eastern Province has launched an investigation into the failure of medical staff at the Qatif Central Hospital to report a suspected coronavirus case at the hospital to authorities.
A patient suspected to have contracted the coronavirus died at the hospital even though a second test came back negative for MERS on Saturday. “When Murtada Khater, 25, died Saturday night at the Qatif Central Hospital’s ICU, there were reports that he was another victim of MERS,” a local daily reported.
An official letter was immediately sent to the Qatif hospital blaming medical staff for not informing the directorate about the case.
The letter also pointed out that one component in the sample of Khater’s fluids tested positive for the coronavirus and one more test was conducted with a new sample taken from his body.
