Mawhiba to sign strategic pact with Johns Hopkins University

King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) is preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) of Johns Hopkins University on Thursday at its headquarters in Riyadh. The MoU will lead to a strategic partnership with CTY which is specialized in the identification and development of the gifted in the Kingdom and provide services to them.
This came in course of Mawhiba’s quest for improvement in its services to the gifted and to build environment and community of creativity to enable different categories of the gifted in the Kingdom to utilize their talent to serve the nation.
Mawhiba will be represented in the signing of this MoU by His Excellency Dr. Adel A. Al-Keaid, Deputy Secretary General, and JHU is represented by Patricia Metz, Assistant Manager of CTY.
The MoU includes many aspects, the most prominent being the enrichment programs between Mawhiba and JHU undergoing implementation of international programs at local organizations including universities, schools and research centers under the title (Mawhiba-CTY). The high quality standards regarding syllabi, curricula and scientific activities are similar to those the CTY applies to its own programs for developing students’ skill potentials and promoting the cognitive and behavioral aspects as well as the scientific benefits acquired by gifted students during their engagement with the programs to develop skills and academic potentials.
Moreover, the MoU provides for the improvement of the quality outcome of the enrichment program in terms of programs management, learning assessment outcomes and program evaluation by the two parties, in addition to the development of enrichment courses for gifted students in scientific fields and related guidelines, and cooperation for the development of the mentorship program.
The MoU also addresses many aspects of training and e-learning regarding assistance and providing training for staff in the enrichment programs in management of the programs, education/learning skills, guiding gifted students and learning outcomes evaluation. In addition, it promotes the transferring of know-how to management program teams to develop e-learning services for Mawhiba’s different beneficiaries.
