New system of legal proceedings comes into force

Minister of Justice and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Muhammad Al-Issa recently approved the executive list of legal proceedings system which will be circulated to all relevant authorities.
The system will come into effect immediately in all courts and public notary offices of the Kingdom, except for some of its articles which will be kept under suspension until special courts, tribunals and the Supreme Court embark on its work in accordance with the judiciary system.
Al-Issa asserted that the new executive list will take effect during the transitional period in compliance with the judiciary system.
The new system, comprising 212 pages, explains the marital proceedings which have been amended following royal approval.
Judiciary sources said the new executive list has redrawn the map of work for the judiciary and the shift toward the specialized litigation with two more levels side by side with the Supreme Court. More sections have been added to the legal proceedings such as the veto on a petition, appeal system and other sections.
The sources confirmed that the issuance of the executive list of legal proceedings implies embarking on the works of both labor and commercial courts, and separating criminal and commercial cases looked into by the Court of Grievances and shifting its work to public courts.
