Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the board of trustees of Prince Salman Center for Disability Research (PSCDR), said Monday that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah would sponsor the 4th International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation to be held in the capital this year.
Prince Sultan who is president of the upcoming conference said that this move by King Abdullah reflects the country’s keen interest in the field of specialist scientific research for the benefit of people with disabilities making life easier for this precious category of citizens.
“Researchers are going to present papers on the salient features of their research in this important field of science aimed at serving society and mankind,” he said in a letter of thanks to the king.
He also expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense who is the supreme head of the PSCDR, for his personal care and attention to the cause of the disabled.
These decisions contribute to safeguarding the well-being of this section of society through providing prevention programs, integration and ongoing support from the government.
Speaking on behalf of the partners in the event namely, King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud Foundation, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center and the Association of Children with Disabilities and Cooperation, Prince Sultan said: “Gracing such an event is a great honor for us.”
The Ministries of Social Affairs, Education and Health will also participate in the event.
“The global conference will provide a platform for specialized scientific research in disability,” Prince Sultan said adding that the event has attracted local and international expertise in the field of disability.
The event will feature workshops on the sidelines of the conference and keynote speakers are carefully selected to maximize the benefits from the medical and scientific development in the provision of care and services that raise the performance level of people with disabilities and their integration in the community.
According to the prince, the event is one of the largest gatherings of science and research in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf in terms of the people working in the disability field and institutions that seek to develop the services provided for this category of children. This will be in addition to the research work being carried out in the medical and technological advances in this area.
