Border Guards evacuate sick UK tourist from cruise ship

A British tourist who suffered a stroke on board a Salala-bound cruise ship from Aqaba in Jordan was flown to Jeddah by the Makkah Border Guards on Monday. The British tourist suffered the stroke while the ship was passing through Saudi waters. A security helicopter flew the man and his wife to the International Medical Center in Jeddah.
The department’s search and rescue coordination center received a satellite call from the captain of the cruise ship Balmoral, a fax from the search and rescue center at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, and a call from the Jeddah Islamic Port tower requesting the medical evacuation.
