I consider myself an apolitical person not allied to any political party. However, I consider Anees Lokhande’s comments on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) performance in Gujarat somewhat unrealistic.
I wonder when was the last time he stayed in India or to be more specific in Gujarat long enough to assess BJP’s performance. To say that claims about Gujarat’s economic growth are exaggerated is wrong. Lokhande needs to support his claims by facts and figures. Just consider the manner in which Gujarat’s government has helped farmer and you will get the answer. Despite a devastating earthquake in 2001, Gujarat today does not bear any marks of the damage. How many Muslims in KSA are from Gujarat? In my two years of service here as a consultant, I am yet to come across a single Muslim from Gujarat working in Saudi Arabia.
Does Anees know that the current ruling government is the most corrupt and is behind many riots in India? When the BJP was in power, India was growing at a rate of 8-9 percent annually. Even Congress had to admit that most of the infrastructure was developed during the NDA rule. Congress reaped the benefit of BJP’s performance when they came to power in 2003. It was NDA that had decided to make peace with Pakistan. — Russell Dcosta, By e-mail
