I completely agree with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s views about Narendra Modi. It will be a disaster for India if Modi assumes the reins of the country as the next prime minister. During his fiery speeches, Modi exaggerates the economic growth of Gujarat. Interestingly, the person who literally oversaw the 2002 Gujarat pogrom and who never made any efforts to conceal his true feelings toward Muslims, is now trying to portray himself in a different light. Now this saffron leader has suddenly fallen in love with secularism and Muslims.
Observers may recall that initially the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to play the communal card by once again taking up the Ayodhya temple issue but when this tactic did not work, it tried to change the course of action by talking about secular ideals. The BJP is a fascist party and cannot be trusted.
Today they are targeting the government due to the current economic situation. Have they forgotten the economic situation during the time when the BJP was in power and Atal Behari Vajpaee was the premier?
I urge all Indians to think twice before voting these people to power. They are hatemongers and will ruin the social fabric of India. Don’t get lured by the so-called Gujarat model. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
