Bahrain telecom regulator honored

The chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Amer, has won the Best Telecom Regulator Leader in the SAMENA Region award.
The award was announced at the 5th edition of the SAMENA Telecommunications Council 2013 Awards Ceremony. This came in recognition of distinctive successes achieved by TRA under his leadership and his leading role in the development of the telecommunications sector in Bahrain.
Al-Amer expressed his pleasure over the honor accorded to him and said: “We are proud to win this award, which is attributed to the board of directors, the general director and the staff of TRA who had a significant role in TRA’s achievements at various levels.”
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to SAMENA Council for choosing him to win the award and emphasized that such awards would motivate him to continue to fulfill Bahrain’s and the leadership’s aspirations.
TRA is stated to have several achievements to its credit and won numerous awards in the previous years, including the e-Economic Award in 2012 at the local level, CommesMEA’s Best Regulator Award in 2013 and SAMENA’s Best Regulator Award in 2011.
SAMENA’s awards are granted to leading telecommunications companies and specialists in this sector according to a grueling evaluation process of the development of their performance and excellence of their services.
The awards that have been granted to eligible individuals and organizations fall under five categories — Operators Awards, Manufacturers and Suppliers Awards, Regulators Awards, Satellite Providers Awards and Individual Awards.
The nominees have been selected for the 2013 awards by the Awards Evaluation Committee, which consists of highly respected industry experts who have been carefully selected from employees in the telecommunications sector as well as from the public.
