MERS kills Saudi, three infected

The Ministry of Health reported Saturday one more fatality from the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), bringing the total number of deaths to 56 out of 136 infected cases in the Kingdom.
The latest casualty, a 73 year-old Saudi man from the Riyadh Province, was suffering from a number of acute chronic diseases. Additionally, two foreigners and a 53-year-old Saudi man, who has a record of chronic illnesses, have also contracted the disease.
The two expatriates are health care officials who worked with patients infected with the virus.
Health Ministry spokesman Khalid Al-Mirghalani told Arab News that his ministry has been continuously monitoring the movement of the virus in the Kingdom and was making vigorous efforts to contain the disease.
