Andhra Pradesh website to help NRIs return home and find jobs

The Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has launched a website where non-resident Indians (NRI) can get help to return home and finds jobs.
Aijaz Ahmed, the chairman of the United Andhra Pradesh Forum, welcomed the decision taken by the state and thanked officials D. Sridhar Babu and Abid Rasool Khan for helping to set up the website.
He said a three-person delegation would soon visit Saudi Arabia to help workers return home.
Another NRI from Andhra Pradesh, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, a trustee of the Khak-e-Taiba Trust, welcomed the decision. Several officials said the website would help create awareness about blacklisted agents involved in the illegal trade of workers.
Mir Gazanfar Ali Razvi Zaki, a member of Andhra Pradesh Youth Welfare Association and Telugu Academy, welcomed the initiative. He thanked Mohammad Khaleequr Rahman, a senior politician, for helping to set up the project.
“I hope it will benefit NRIs, especially those working in the Middle East, Gulf states and third world countries, and play a crucial role in the coming years.” He urged people from the state to register as soon as possible.
Zaki said the government of Andhra Pradesh should draw up plans to help people resettle in the state, create anti-poverty schemes, meet financial requirements for marriages, provide medical treatment, ensure aid for the education of children, and pay social security for the families of those who die abroad.
“The plight of many migrant workers, particularly in the labor category, is pitiful when they lose their jobs because they often have several dependents. Migrant workers are the major contributors to India’s economy and have to return home at the end of their contracts or when they are fired.”
