Conference to discuss neurological advances

Top thinkers and pioneers in the field of brain research and personalized health care will be gathering in Jeddah at a two-day symposium titled, “The Brain Forum — Challenging the Future.”
The first of its kind in the Middle East region, the conference will be held under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Naif, minister of interior, from Dec. 3 to 4. It will deal with future challenges in combating neurological disorders and the transfer of expertise to Saudi Arabia.
The participants will discuss the latest advances in neuroscience and brain research and share their thoughts on combating the growing epidemic of neurological disorders and health care challenges. Physicians, scientists, and business executives both from the public and private sectors will share their thoughts on the future challenges of health care.
The Brain Forum will be organized by W Science Initiative (“W” stands for Dr. Walid Juffali) in collaboration with King Abdul Aziz University, King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST), the Saudi Society of Neurology, and NeuroPro AG Switzerland.
Juffali said the forum is in line with the framework of initiatives undertaken by the Saudi government to address national health priorities, including neurodegenerative diseases and brain disorders.
He believes the Kingdom will benefit greatly from the leading scientists and global experts, and this will contribute to the improvement of medical technology as well as support the government’s efforts.
“The forum also falls under the tenets and guidelines of the W Science Initiative, which was launched to support outstanding scientific projects. It would also facilitate collaborations among leading scientists working at the interfaces of different scientific disciplines to address unmet medical needs and improve the quality of personalized health care,” he said.
The main objectives of the forum are to convene high-level meetings and discussions for scientists, engineers, health policy makers, clinicians and physicians on the challenges and opportunities in neuroscience, brain research and health care in general.
Other areas include presentation of new tools and technologies that will improve diagnosis, management and treatment of brain disorders and other personalized health care innovations, besides exploring the future of personalized health care, prevention, diagnostics and intervention.
