Speeding car snuffs out 6 lives

Six people were killed and two severely injured after a speeding car plowed into two oncoming cars causing an explosion and huge ball of fire on Friday in Mohayl Asir town, some 100 km southwest of Abha, authorities said.
“We have started an investigation into the accident and will release the results soon,” Col. Abdullah Al-Shathan, spokesman for Asir Police, told Arab News.
Eyewitnesses said the crash happened when a speeding sedan veered off its course, hit a side curb and jumped into a lane with oncoming traffic. The speeding car first collided with a pickup carrying a couple, who died on the spot, before it finally crashed into another pickup and caught fire.
The dead included three men and three women.
Four of the six bodies were completely burned, Saeed Al-Nakeer, spokesman of the Asir Health Department, told Arab News. One of the injured who was taken to Asir Hospital in Abha is in critical condition. The other is being treated at Mohayl Hospital, he said.
