Parents of students at the English section of the Pakistan International School in Al-Rehab have welcomed the decision to facilitate online fee payment.
They said that this had been a long-standing demand and that the ambassador of Pakistan had issued instructions to school management to give them the option of directly depositing fees in banks.
When asked about the development, School Link Officer Sohail Ali Khan confirmed that the instructions had been issued.
A number of parents, however, still complain about non-compliance by school managements to accept their application forms for School Management Council despite clear instructions from the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia.
“In the absence of properly elected parent management councils to register complaints and concerns, parents are concerned over management reducing the days of academic curriculum activities, charing excessive fees being for low-quality education with no transparency in accounts and using school premises for political agendas,” said Faisal Khan, a parent.
Khalid Cheema, another parent, complained that he was told he would have to pay tuition fees in cash. He wondered if this problem could be fixed and parents could pay their children’s fees directly to the school account.
“The principal of the school was not available at school because of her political career, and she could not spare any time for parents. How can she then be expected to pay attention to the education of children and other related matters?” said Cheema.
Another parent, Ashraf Tariq, also complained that the school management always threatened parents if they go against the school management. “We are told that we will have to face the consequences and our children’s future is also at stake,” he said.
When Arab News contacted Link Officer Sohail Ali Khan for PISJ ES for comments on the concerns raised by parents, he said the embassy, in coordination with Ministry of Education, was already in the process of sincerely forming the Parents’ Management Council (SMC) under Article 4 (1).
Besides, the Saudi government had already issued instructions to the principal of the school and the SMC will soon be in place.
“Both the ambassador and the Saudi authorities have already taken a serious note of parents’ concerns and written instructions have been issued to the principal in this regard. We have received nomination forms from parents and have already had a meeting with them,” said Khan.
He also said if any parent’s form was not accepted in the school, they can still submit it to him. Khan also said that parents can take the bank account details and IBN number from the school management or from him to deposit the fees directly to the school account.
