Zamzam water delivered for pilgrims

The Zamzam Directorate in the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque supplied water to all locations in the Grand Mosque to serve the guests of God.
It mobilized more than 100 employees and 700 laborers for this task.
Director-General of Zamzam Water Maher bin Mansi Al-Zahrani said 82 fiberglass tanks were set up at gathering points inside the Grand Mosque, 67 marble drinking dispensers and 15 fiberglass tanks in the mosque yards, as well as 6,000 water coolers.
The numbers can be reduced or increased according to demand and congestion inside the mosque.
The average consumption of Zamzam water inside the Grand Mosque during the Haj season touched 1,539 cubic meters, while consumption outside the mosque was 488 cubic meters. The amount of water sent to the Prophet’s Mosque was 272 cubic meters on a daily basis.
He said these amounts were consumed during the previous Haj season and comparisons will be made after the end of the current season.
Al-Zahrani prevented the entry of unauthorized persons into service areas and prevented street vendors from entering the yards of the Grand Mosque. He said Zamzam water shouldn’t be carried in plastic bags or containers, and Hajis should not perform ablutions in Zamzam gathering points because water will be wasted on the floors of the mosque, which might lead to slippery floors.
The Director-General said the operational plan for 2013 includes supervision and provision of water supplies and conducting field trips of drinking points and locations to make sure they are ready and sufficient. The plan also ensures the readiness of drinking points inside and outside the Grand Mosque besides maintaining hygiene and cleanness at drinking points.
The plan aims to follow up on lab’s performance, to ensure periodic testing.
Al-Zahrani said new cups will replace old ones simultaneously, and new services will include a water container for every Haji, delivering Zamzam water easily and speedily to disabled individuals by placing water containers around the central poles in the mosque, placing them in the Massaa’ to drink and distribute as gifts to Hajis.
