Salhab-Hanlon wins Nofa Saudi National Day golf tournament

Nofa Golf Resort, a new all-grass golf course, has opened its doors, fairways if you will, to the public and to mark the occasion it hosted a tournament Monday during the 83rd Saudi National Day.
Located in Tabrak, a town 53.9 kilometers from Riyadh, Nofa is a beautiful par-73 layout with narrow and challenging fairways. It is also unique in that nine holes had been spread out inside a race track and the other nine outside of it.
With full facilities including a fabulous clubhouse Nofa is everything even the most discriminating golfer could ask for.
The limited field two ball Texas Scramble with ¼ total combined handicap format event had the pair of Saudi national team standout Faisal Salhab and Eamonn Hanlon winning by countback over the tandem of Abdulrahman Almansour and Dirab Golf Committee chair Tariq Javed after the two sides tied on 63.
Dirab Golf Club GM Bouchaib El Jadiani and Daren Low took third place on 64 followed by Fahad Almansour and Khaled Alothmane on 65.
In other results, Mervin-Budha posted 66, Abdullah Hussain and Chris 68, Prince Khaled Al Faisal-John Ledwegde 69, James Welkin-Kevin Hanlon 72 and Abdullah Masoud and Mike Jones 80.
Everybody had a great time out on the course, and Fahad Almansour said Nofa is “a wonderful place to visit.”
“The course exceeded expectations. The whole thing – course and its surroundings – is just fantastic,” he added.
Fahad said he and fellow Saudi national team players played Nofa golf course two weeks ago in preparation for the MENA Tour event to be held at Dirab Golf & Country Club next week.
The Saudi players thanked Nofa Golf Resort owner Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer and also GM Eamonn Hanlon, Barrie Gregsson, who designed the golf course, and Darren Low for the great hospitality they enjoyed at the one-day bash. They also thanked Khaled Abunayyan, president of Saudi Golf Federation, for the generous support to the Saudi national team members.
On Saturday, they gather once again at Dirab for the Almarai National Day tournament where a full field of players is expected to tee it up in chase of an array of prizes.
