50,000 off to Bahrain; Causeway jam-packed

About 50,000 travelers crossed the King Fahd Causeway into Bahrain at the start of the National Day holidays, according to estimates.
Arab News spoke to a number of drivers who complained of the heavy traffic and long wait to get into the neighboring country.
“You're going to wait a minimum of two to three hours to cross into Bahrain,” said Ahmed Ali, a traveler.
Ali Al-Qahtani, another traveler, said: “I came from Riyadh and got stuck for two hours. Maybe it will take me three to four hours to get into Bahrain.”
A person with special needs said: “I have an identity card to pass through the gate for students and persons with special needs. But we unfortunately often get stuck during holidays for two to three hours because of the crowds. I hope the customs and passport departments assign a track or gate for us so that we can pass through easily.”
Arab News was not able to contact a causeway spokesperson for comment.
