Philatelic society to stage cultural fair

The Saudi Philatelic and Numismatic Society (SPNS) will hold a cultural exhibition at the King Fahd Cultural Center on Monday to commemorate the Kingdom’s 83rd National Day.
The exhibition will depict the Kingdom’s history from the time of King Abdulaziz up to the present period to showcase the Kingdom’s progress.
“Significant cultural events during the time of King Abdulaziz, King Saud, King Faisal, King Khaled, King Fahd and King Abdullah will be highlighted,” said Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan, an SPNS media consultant.
The exhibition will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Information.
The exhibition, he added, is held in conjunction with projects launched recently by the SPNS.
“The SPNS also collaborated with the Saudi Post in holding the third Arab Stamp Exhibition at Rashid Mall in Madinah,” he said. The exhibition was inaugurated by Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman.
Thirteen Arab countries participated, with Ahmed Kilani, an engineer, coming second and receiving the silver medal for the Kingdom. Mustapha Saleh from Egypt and Hassan Al-Naimi from Qatar received gold and bronze medals.
The aim of the exhibition was to promote stamp collection as a hobby, promote research and studies on stamps and develop healthy competition among stamp collectors.
Another exhibition, the Okaz Cultural Market, inaugurated by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, was also held in Taif recently.
“The event, in which poets, artists and writers participated in, goes back 1,400 years,” he said.
The exhibtion was held under the auspices of the Stamps Institution, an affiliate of the SPNS.
“The society is looking forward to embarking upon other projects that will help promote Saudi culture,” he said.
