Makkah police have arrested two Afghan nationals in connection with the murder of a Bangladeshi expatriate in Makkah.
The victim’s body was found inside a deep well in the Jumoom area on the outskirts of Makkah and was later identified.
“Police formed a crime investigation committee within hours of recovering the body and after establishing the identification of the victim. They questioned several Bangladeshi workers but found no evidence linking them to the crime,” Col. Abdul Mohsin Al-Maiman of Makkah police told Arab News Wednesday.
“Police later interrogated two Afghan nationals, who confessed to their crime,” he said.
Local media reported that the victim had made sexual advances to one of the perpetrators, who then lured him to the area of Jumoon with her relative and hacked him to death.
Police officers declined to reveal the reasons behind the murder to Arab News, but said that the police team was able to catch the killers within six hours of the incident.
Sources at the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah have said that they don’t have information regarding the murder of the Bangladeshi citizen in Makkah.
