Detained girls’ parents file complaint

The parents of several girls who attended a private school have filed a complaint with a human rights organization against the school principal, who had ordered a teacher to detain the girls due to nonpayment of school fees.
Abd Al-Rahman Al-Qurashi said the complaint will make the teacher realize that laws exist to punish transgressors. “Admonition is not the only way to handle problems. Things could have been solved more amicably,” he said.
Adel Al-Thubaiti, a representative of the National Society for Human Rights, said the society had received the complaint filed by the parents against the school.
“The complaint has been referred to the headquarters in Makkah for further action. We need to make people more aware of their rights,” he said.
