Former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank of Greg Antonio claimed its first Team of the Week award by defeating BSF 301-244 in a grueling match during the 9th week of the Inter-Bank Tenpin Bowling League 2013 Conference at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center.
SHB finally found its groove as team captain Antonio handled his team lineup with precise maneuvering. Straight bowler Clem Salazar completed an SHB double when he fired the high series of 850 and took home the Bowler of the Week accolade. He was assisted by Jil Hembra and Gerry Ayonon, who rolled 799 and 760, respectively, while Arnel Bernabe tallied 507 in three games. Antonio and Val Baraquio added 507 and 402 while Cholo Nieto had 197 in one game.
BSF won the last two games with the combined efforts of captain Jun Bantug, Dawood Sereno, Jerry Villanueva and Joseph Adao who carded 792, 789, 764 and 704.
League leader SAMA-Abana survived the threat of BSF-CBG as they blanked them during the first two games of the match. However, team captain Teody Zulaybar was determined to keep their top post and won the last two games with staggering 160 bonus points, The match ended 260-130 to SAMA. Jun Macarandan was the highest scorer with 739 followed by Bernie Torres (721), Jun Bolocboloc (719) and Clem Guelas (698).
The trio of Alfred Estrada, Abet Minosa and Art Bumatay inspired their teammates to play excellent games during the first two games. They tallied 739, 721 and 719 in that order. Guilbert Masias rolled 516 while Ricky Dominguez and captain Ken Hechanova rolled 366 and 320 with Dennis Buot on 137.
Defending champion Shabab SABB brought down former champion PNB Unified of Usman Navarro 220-210 in a 2-2 match. Arnold Jesena, Fahad Al Heza, Jaffer Al Kathiri and Francis Guron shot 820, 768, 705 and 677.
Top performer at PNB was Freddie Solomon who returned 792 while the father and son tandem of Sonny and Patrick Alviso had 741 and 713. Veteran Mixi Lechuga contributed 552 while Ronald Cruz and James Frizzle made 350 and 337.
Alinma kept third spot in the team standings after thrashing SAIB 180-130. Lito Tolentino, Jerry Barce and Willie Bondoc scored 741, 706 and 695. Jojo de Silva and Angelo Train assisted them with 541 and 529 while Romy Burgos had 323.
For two weeks in a row, Mike Benito was the top scorer in SAIB with 765. He was assisted by Ed Robillos and captain Dong Calub who rolled 718 and 670. Straight bowler Julius Queypo and veteran Joey Salem tallied 463 and 439 in three games while Eddison Austria had 388.
