Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal addressed the economic aspect of the development process of Makkah saying: “We have put a strategy in place that depends on the most important factor of all, which is the participation of the independent sector in 40 percent of the implementation of the development strategy.”
Prince Khaled said that the governorate proposed a project named “Partners in the Development Process,” where businessmen, firms and the cultural institutions will participate in the uplift process.
“We also scheduled a monthly meeting with businessmen in the region to discuss issues of concern,” he said.
The governor said: “We have demanded that the Islamic identity be maintained and preserved in all the cities of the Kingdom. I personally think that the new licenses that have been granted reflect such features in the new buildings, especially the big towers on the main roads.”
He said that economic returns are of no concern where Makkah is involved. “Makkah is not a city like other cities of the Kingdom.
“All plans and projects put forward by the leadership of the country are to serve pilgrims, citizens and visitors alike,” said the prince, referring to the fact that no fees or charges are collected for the benefit of the state, which provide services free of charge to all pilgrims and visitors.
The governor said he is in the process of writing a book on Makkah.
