Beauty shops face stiff penalties

Penalties for opening a beauty shop without a license top the list of punitive actions workshops in the Eastern Province face for violations.
The list of penalties and fines, which will soon be published on the website of the regional secretariat, stipulates that the fine for a first-time violation will amount to SR2,000, and SR10,000 if the violation is repeated. An industry source told a local newspaper that the list contained many items, including steps to get licenses and the different agencies that a businesswoman should refer to when investing in this sector.
The list detailed a number of violations that will result in the withdrawal of a license or in closing down the shop altogether. These include using unauthorized medical equipment, tools, herbs and cosmetics, using expired or damaged products and cosmetics, lack of sterilization devices, administrating massages and using laser devices.
The source said that violations related to manpower include employing women workers with no health certificates and poor general hygiene conditions. Fines on these violations stand at SR500 for the first time and SR2,000 if the violation is repeated.
