KARACHI: Pakistan's main stock exchange closed lower, with the benchmark 100-share index of the Karachi Stock Exchange falling 0.24 percent or 53.88 points to 22,160.85 witnessed some profit taking in some stocks dealer said. Selling pressure in banks and oil stocks forced index to close in negative, dealers said.
National Bank of Pakistan fell 3.26 percent to 47.15 rupees while Pakistan State Oil Co Ltd was down 2.01 percent to 295 rupees.
The rupee ended weaker at 104.44/104.52 against the dollar, compared to Thursday's close of 104.35/104.40.
Overnight rates in the money market rose to 9 percent from Thursday's close of 6.50 percent.
