Final arrangements are being by the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) to organize a trade delegation to Switzerland to boost trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, a CSC official told Arab News yesterday.
The council's team, headed by Tariq Al-Qahtani, head of Saudi-Swiss Business Council, will leave the Kingdom on Sept. 2.
Al-Qahtani said the visit is being organized within the framework of the council's efforts to promote and develop economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.
The two parties are expected to follow up the decisions taken at the last Business Council meeting held in Basel in November last year.
The official said the last meeting focused on bilateral cooperation in the areas of technology transfer, training, health care, tourism services and aspects of advanced industries such as manufacture of pharmaceutical products.
He pointed out that this year the delegation will discuss further ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation and develop new opportunities for trade partnership between the two countries.
Al-Qahtani also noted that the program of the Saudi business delegation is to meet a group of businessmen and major Swiss companies to identify the distinctive experiences and joint investment opportunities between the two sides in a number of agreed sectors .
The Kingdom is the first trading partner in the region to Switzerland and the bilateral trade is estimated at SR13 billion.
