Record number of Saudis enter Jordan during Eid

The Al-Haditha crossing point in Qaryat Province recorded an unprecedented traffic of 80,000 travelers entering Jordan during Eid Al Fitr celebrations, according to Lt. Col. Ali Anzi.
He said the number of travelers moving in the direction of Jordan after the 29th day of Ramadan until the fourth day of the Eid was unprecedented, forcing the Passport Administration to operate all five cabins.
The majority of visitors were Saudi families traveling to Amman and then moving on to Turkey and Dubai, according to travel agents.
Al-Anzi said the Al-Haditha crossing point pressed into service all its resources to ease operations because of the number large number of travelers and their vehicles.
Saudi citizens like Abdullah Al Rowailli praised the role of passport officers, who he said were prompt in their service, besides making the regulations flexible.
Saudis have chosen Jordan as a springboard for their destinations in capitals and other tourist cities in light of the turbulence the Arab region has been facing. Jordan has become the only choice either to have a holiday in or travel to other cities in the last Eid holidays.
The reason for this is that the Jordanian border is nearby as also because of the close ties between many Saudi and Jordanian families. Besides, the security situation in Jordan is stable as opposed to other neighboring states.
