Rotten meat destroyed

Inspection teams at the Najran Municipality recently destroyed 12 tons of rotten frozen meat at a well-known store in Najran, local media reported.
The store reportedly did not comply with the required temperature to freeze the meat, which led to the growth of bacteria and bad odor emitting from the freezer.
The meat was destroyed and fines were slapped on the violators for storing meat unsuitable for human consumption.
Inspection teams also seized three tons of expired infant formula, in addition to other food and consumer items, the media said.
Also Director General of Control Department at the Najran Municipality Abdulali Al-Makrami said some 115 stores have been rehabilitated and another group of stores have shown signs of improvement and are making efforts to meet health and technical standards.
