The Supreme Court of Pakistan in a hearing on Friday rejected Imran Khan’s one-page rejoinder.
During the proceedings, the apex court observed that the explanation given by Khan, who is the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, is insufficient and perhaps incomplete. They specifically objected to the word “shameful” used by Khan in his remarks regarding the conduct of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the judiciary in the recent elections. It appears that the court is asking for some kind of an apology or regret from Khan.
Observers may recall that soon after the announcement of election results, the PTI chief had raised questions about the fairness of elections. It will be interesting to see how this case unfolds.
However, one question comes to my mind as to why one PPP senator repeatedly spits venom against the judiciary on national television and gets away with it. — Shaukat Ali, Dhahran
