NEW DELHI: Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan has undergone surgery for a shoulder injury suffered while doing stunts for his new movie, “Chennai Express.”
Sanjay Desai, his doctor, said Khan’s surgery in a Mumbai hospital Tuesday was successful but he will need to rest for two months.
He refused to use body doubles and performed his own stunts for the movie, the Press Trust of India news agency said. The 47-year-old is expected to leave the hospital this weekend.
Writer Mushtaq Sheikh, a close friend of Khan, too updated fans about the surgery on Twitter.
“Good news for everyone who is asking and sending in prayers and wishes for SRK. His surgery has been successfully completed,” he tweeted.
The surgery was due for quite some time.
“Shah Rukh had injured himself during ‘Ra.One’, but later he got busy with ‘Chennai Express’ and said that he will get the surgery done only after wrapping up the shooting for ‘Chennai Express,” the source said.
Khan is one of Bollywood’s biggest stars in India. He has acted in more than 70 films in a career spanning more than two decades.
