Red Sea Mall to open Saturday

The Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, which was closed due to a recent fire incident, will reopen to the public Saturday morning.
Mohammed Alawi, CEO of Red Sea Mall, said the mall will welcome customers now that safety measures are in place and maintenance work has been completed.
A fire had broken out in one of the mall’s restaurants on Monday. However, no one was injured and shoppers were evacuated safely as the Civil Defense controlled the spread of the blaze.
Alawi told Arab News that the management did not rush to open the mall because they wanted to ensure a thorough security system was established and the mall was thoroughly cleaned.
“At the moment we are undergoing an intensive cleaning process as well as a maintenance check to safeguard all the necessary safety arrangements for our visitors. The managers in charge of the 420 shops in the mall have also inspected their stores,” he said.
He commended the safety measures taken in the mall and assured visitors that they followed a “strict security system,” adding, “Yesterday we conducted four training sessions related to emergency evacuation for our 1,600 staff members.”
Alawi pointed out that the management is investigating the causes of the fire and establishing means of avoiding the recurrence of such incidents with the help of Civil Defense experts.
