Taiwan companies to showcase products

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office will organize a “Taiwan Products Catalog Show” at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 7 in Riyadh, April 14 in Qassim and April 21 in Hofuf.
“Catalogs of about 200 Taiwanese companies will be on display during the three shows. The companies will represent 12 main industrial categories,” said Economic Counselor W.K. Lai.
The companies have dealings in various sectors, ranging from IT and ICT products, medical supplies, cement, toys, food and stationery.
Lai said Saudi Arabia is a competitive market, adding that the show’s aim is to promote globally competitive Taiwanese products.
“We welcome Saudi companies and other parties interested in trading and negotiating business affairs with Taiwanese manufacturers to visit the show. Taiwanese products are superior in quality and the price is fair in the global markets,” he said.
He added that the quality of Taiwan’s “modularization and mass production capabilities as well as many key technologies make it the important supporting force for East Asia to become the largest production base in the world. Additionally, the strong orders for Taiwan’s manufacturers prove a sturdy confidence from world buyers in Taiwan’s products.
Lai added that Saudi Arabia is one of the major economic partners of Taiwan, ranking first in the list of trading partners in the region.
“During 2012, bilateral trade increased by 7.2 percent to $ 16.66 billion (SR 62.5 billion), with Taiwan’s exports to Saudi Arabia valued at $ 1.85 billion (SR 6.9 billion) and its imports from Saudi Arabia amounting to about $ 14.81 billion (SR 55.5 billion),” Lai said.
This indicates that there is plenty of room for expanding the mutually beneficial business cooperation in multi-area industries between Taiwan and Saudi Arabia, he said.
