Prince Charles accorded a warm welcome

Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, hosted a state dinner in honor of Prince Charles and his accompanying delegation, here last night.
Several members of the royal family, high-ranking Saudi officials, senior British officials and diplomats attended the high-profile dinner reception for the Prince of Wales.
“Prince Charles, who arrived here with his wife Camilla on board a private jet with a mission to strengthen the United Kingdom’s bilateral relations with the key partner (Saudi Arabia) in the region, will attend a national dialogue at King Abdul Aziz Public Library here today,” said a spokesman of the British Embassy. He will also visit the Shoura Council, where he will meet with senior officials including the newly appointed women members of the council.
The visit of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall signifies the existing robust and deep bonds between the Kingdom and Britain, which serve as a great contributor to the bilateral and regional cooperation, said a statement released on the occasion.
“The visit also signifies the relations which are underpinned by the close personal friendship that exists between the Prince of Wales and members of the Saudi royal family,” said the statement.
Prince Charles’ trip to the Kingdom includes discussions on issues such as “military cooperation between the Kingdom and the UK, opportunities for women in Saudi society, education, faith and commercial partnerships.”
The British Embassy’s spokesman said that the Prince of Wales will be received by Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, minister of state, Cabinet member and commander of the National Guard, before heading for national dialogue.
He pointed out the British royal couple will also stop in Jeddah, where they will visit the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Sunday.
He said Camila will visit Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh today and accompany Prince Charles during his visit to the Shoura Council.
