Iran says it will help learn fate of ex-FBI agent

TEHRAN: Iran’s foreign minister says his country is ready to help learn the fate of a retired FBI agent who went missing six years ago.
Iranian media yesterday quoted Ali Akbar Salehi as saying that previous information indicates that Robert Levinson is not in Iran.
But Salehi says Iran is ready to cooperate to help clarify how he disappeared.
Levinson, who is from Coral Springs, Florida, disappeared in March 2007 while traveling to the Iranian island of Kish as a private investigator.
Despite years of denials, US officials involved in the case suspect Iran’s intelligence service was behind a 54-second video and five photographs of Levinson that were e-mailed anonymously to his family a few years ago.
Salehi says, however, that US officials know that Levinson is not in Iran.
