BRC cricket event under way

BRC Eagles beat BRC Hawks and BRC Phoenix triumphed over BRC Falcons in the first day of action in BRC Cricket League competitions in Jeddah recently.
The League is sponsored by SIPCO (PEPSI Bugshan), Al-Abeer Medical Center, Jeddah and Western Union.
The first encounter in the league saw Eagles defeat Hawks by 38 Runs. Wasith of Eagles knocked an unbeaten 41 in 20 balls to pile up Eagles to a mammoth total of 105 runs in 10 overs. Faheem (27 Runs off 9 balls) and DV Salih supported Wasith in the Rally. In Reply Hawks has bowled out for a trifling score of 67. Hawks batsmen except captain Nihal (40 off 23) failed to cope with outstanding bowling attack by Eagles all-rounders Wasith (2-8) and Faheem (2-3).
In the second match, Falcons were trounced by Phoenix by 9 wickets. Migdad’s excellent bowling performance of 4-19 wrap up Falcons innings for a paltry score of 91. Jarir (26 off 15 balls) and Fouad (14 off 10 balls) did the bulk of scoring to Falcons.
In reply, opening batsman Shabeer Ali of Phoenix played a scintillating knock of 30 off 19 balls. He hit the bowlers all parts of the ground. He was ably supported by captain Aslam who hit 21 off 16 balls. Migdad, after bowling brilliantly also shown up with the Bat taking unbeaten 19 runs (13 balls) to give their team a 9 wickets sparkling win.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Anwar Sadath (TCF President, Jeddah). CV Aboobacker Koya, Nalakath Alu and N. Andru introduced the players. Inaugural speeches were delivered by BRC President Hifsu Rahman and Secretary PNM Iqbal. Salih Barami delivered the vote of thanks. Muhajir, Migdad, Nihal, Nawas, Mahad, Samad and Sabu will run the tournament. Man of the match awardees were Wasith Abdul Samad and Aslam M.K.
