Hempel Paint easily won its first match against hapless rival Petromin Oil of team manager Wilson Butch Pablo. The Hempel combo of power forward Maribao, Boado, Dizon, Caritativo and Tantay beat the lights out of Petromin starters Nuqui, Gutierez, Jaso, Anonuevo and Moraca. The first half ended 64-38 to Hempel.
Petromin Oil team chief Pablo was philosophical about the result. “We have done our part. Winning is only a secondary thing in our aim. What matters most is all of my charges feel that they were here to enjoy the game. This is only a first defeat, not yet end of the world,” he said.
Picked as FABA Best Player of the game was Maribao who said “We are all inspired because of the support and concern of our management. We will continue our mission to sweep the eliminations.”
