Dr. Hussam Al-Najjar of Palestine and Dr. Muhammad Al-Bastawisi of Egypt shared the first prize for environmental research in the Kingdom’s international prize for environment protection, it was announced yesterday.
The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection, which announced 16 prizewinners, said the second prize for research was shared by Dr. Ali Suleiman Darbala, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mahrouki and Dr. Abdunnasser Al-Sayed of Egypt while the third prize went to Raqiya Sahbu and Abdul Razaq Al-Qalal of Tunsia.
The first prize for best applications in the government department has been withheld, the presidency said. The second prize in the category went to the Public Security in Jordan and third prize to the Riyadh Development Authority.
In the private sector, the first prize for applications has been withheld. The second prize was shared by the Yeast Factory in Jordan and a Moroccan construction firm. The third prize was shared by Saudi Electricity Company and Gulf Petrochemicals in Bahrain.
The first prize for best applications in private organizations went to the Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa while the second prize went to Kuwait Dive Team and third prize to the Yemeni Society for Environment and Sustainable Development.
