Official language

This refers to the letter “ Arabic as official language “ (Feb. 1) by Hesham Syed. I think, the intention of the writer was good, but unfortunately it cannot be successful in Pakistan.
The biggest problem in making Arabic as an official language of Pakistan is the lack of basic education in the country. Since a major section of Pakistani society is deprived of elementary education, it will create a big communication gap between the officials and the masses.
Also, it is not necessary that it will end the conflicts among the tribes and peace and tranquility will prevail in the country. We have many examples of countries like Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya, and others where Arabic is the official language but they all are mired in internal conflicts.
Indeed, for the purpose of understanding the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, the knowledge of Arabic language is important. In fact, Arabic language can be started in schools, colleges and universities as a second language along with Urdu and English. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
