‘Dunes School has become a beacon of knowledge’

Dunes International School celebrated its 2nd Annual Day with Mohammad Azharuddin, member of the Indian Parliament and former Indian cricket captain as the chief guest.
The event, organized by the students, teaching and non-teaching staff and fully supported by school management, was the talk of the town because of the presence of the legendary cricketer.
Among the other distinguished guests of the evening were Chairman Dr. Ibrahim Al-Quayaid, Managing Director Nadeem Tarin and Directors Amjad Khan and Dr. Saleem-ur-Rahman.
Principal D. Manon highlighted the achievements of Dunes and its students in academics as well as in the fields of sports and co-curricular activities.
He explained how, in just two years, Dunes has grown into an outstanding and established beckon of knowledge.
In his address, Tarin thanked all the parents for keeping faith in the school. He appreciated the leadership qualities of Principal Manon and other members of the staff and the students “who are our tomorrow — our future.”
Azharuddin awarded outstanding performers in academics, extra-curricular activities and sports with certificates, medals and trophies.
The school management felicitated five outstanding teachers for their dedicated service and commitment towards school.
Educationist Tarin was praised for investing in the education of Eastern Province expatriate communities. “I am very happy to see his excellent contribution in the field of education,” said Azharuddin. “I came all the way from India just for him and Dunes school.”
Azharuddin praised the efforts of the teachers and students in putting up a wonderful event. He congratulated all the prizewinners and hoped that the school would attain greater heights of glory in the times to come. He encouraged the students to excel in every field of life and to respect and trust their teachers.
Around 180 toddlers from the KG section participated in the colorful programs, which included seasons fusion and Arabic dance sequels.
Tiny tots of Grade I and Grade II regaled the audience with their antics, and a charming performance of dance items like Mix Medley, Aerobics and Senorita.
Grade III to VIII children presented a variety of entertainment programs. The Drama Club presented meaningful school skits and enacted a celebrated play by William Shakespeare.
The young and energetic participants did not leave any stone unturned when they danced adroitly at the fusion of international and semi-classical songs, a Bollywood number and even a fusion of filmy qawwalis.
The function came to an end with a patriotic dance performed by the Boys Section students.
According to Amjad Khan, the school director, the school will soon be starting a Talent Hunt Program and will offer scholarships to outstanding students.
