Last Saturday, our national team sadly left the GCC Cup too early. Due to our very poor performance, nonetheless. We didn’t deserve to stay a minute longer. We need a complete overhaul in our football. We have players and a coach who seems to be demotivated, even uninterested. It was as if they couldn’t wait to leave the tournament. The spirit is lost, how do we get it back?
Mr. Rijkaard, our coach is a non- Saudi who handles the national team contractually. He gets a big check but can’t make a big play. So far, he only managed to beat Yemen 2-0. I think we need a new coach.
Another issue could be the bad effects on the players of our sports media including ex-players who are have very biased opinions on certain players. I noticed that Hilal players get constant criticism. Don’t they know that it’s actually the national team and the players should not be defined by Al-Hilal or Al-Ahli anymore. They’re all playing as one team.
But the most important of all is more time and patience. Let’s get real, our FIFA ranking is 126. That should say it all. We are at the bottom. We must start over and improve our performance. Let’s get on the right track.
