Volunteers to assist Hayya Jeddah

A group of Saudi youth has been appointed as volunteers at Red Sea Mall to assist in supervising and following up public events, increase marketing awareness and answer all visitors’ queries in alliance with the shopping festival Hayya Jeddah, which started Wednesday and will last a whole month. The festival will be formally inaugurated Monday by Jeddah Gov. Prince Meshal bin Majed.
Around 35 different activities will take place at six different malls: Mall of Arabia, Red Sea Mall, Haifa Mall, Tahliya Mall, Serafi Mega Mall and Jeddah Exhibition Center. The activities range from entertainment to cultural and traditional and include electronic and traditional games, face and henna painting, bazars, programs by Al-Bir Charitable Society and several competitions for children.
“We have ensured that Saudi youth know there is always a path to become successful and we act as a great support in motivating youth. We encourage them by identifying their potential skills and assist them in channeling their focus and energies,” said Mohammed Alawi, CEO of Red Sea Mall.
He said the volunteers would gain immense experience by participating in this festival. It will be an advantage for volunteers to enhance their time and harness their energy and vitality in a positive way.
Alawi said that being a “major destination for shopping and entertainment in Jeddah motivates us to adopt many of the events, and by hosting national shopping festivals we aim to create a safe environment for families, focusing on shopping and entertainment.”
He said the mall had been working on all the elements to make Hayya Jeddah as fruitful as possible. As this festival is dedicated to families, a lot of emphasis is given to appointing a large number of security guards, who will have a bigger role in the operations, control and regulations of providing security. They will ensure that the environment is kept safe and healthy.
One of the activities organized is a puzzle activity. This activity will focus on talent, skill and concentration. A game called Jungle/Forest has also been included to the list. Jungle is an educational game that focuses on decorative trees and stones, among other things, and aims at building knowledge and awareness among children. In addition to this, a unique feature has been added, called “alien shopping”.
Red Sea Mall is also working on hosting an art gallery. It gives youth the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents. It will hold unique arts and creative sculptures adding an attractive touch to the festival.
Mohammed bin Mansour, director of the marketing center at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said different activities of Jeddah festival would help in the promotion of domestic tourism and achieve a healthy shopping environment. At the same time, they will provide job opportunities and educational facilities to the youth.
The JCCI recently announced that the festival’s current target is to attract more than 1.5 million visitors, comprising Saudi and GCC families, during the spring break. Throughout the festival time, the streets of Jeddah, such as Prince Sultan Street, Tahlia Street, Palestine Street and public squares, will be adorned and lighted to celebrate Hayya Jeddah. Visitors to the festival will witness different shows like acrobatics, fireworks and plays that have been coordinated with the General Authority of Tourism.
