Social worker leaving Kingdom after 20 years

Dr. Ali Akbar, a dentist and social worker, will leave the Kingdom shortly after two decades of service in the country. He will return to his home country India, where he will join as a lecturer in Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences in Ernamkulam, Kerala.
Akbar has been working at Bawadi Shifa Polyclinic and has been actively involved in social and cultural activities in the city.
A number of organizations have held send-off parties for him when community members extolled his services to the public.
Abdul Shukoor Ali, president of Thanima, commended Akbar’s hard work and his penchant for serving other people and imparting knowledge to others.
Dr. Akbar considers his community services as worship to God and this attitude has enabled him to render his services sincerely and honestly.
During the past 20 years, he has worked for leading Keralite organizations such as Muslim Educational Society, Community Welfare Forum, Thanima and Muslim Service Society, holding leadership positions.
He is one of the founding members of Saudi Kerala Doctors Forum and was its general secretary for three consecutive terms. He is also a member of the prestigious American Society of Forensic Odontology and passed FDS RCS examinations of British Royal College of Surgeons in 1996.  He passed these two examinations during his stint in Saudi Arabia. Despite his busy professional and social activities, he rigorously pursued his researches in both medical and literary fields. A voracious reader, Akbar has written a number of articles in Saudi and foreign newspapers including Arab News.
