Etihad Airways has organized a substantial blanket distribution drive to help underprivileged children survive the harsh winter season in New Delhi.
This initiative, which is the first conducted by the airline in India, was organized in association with Monyati Initiatives, an India-based non-profit social development organization, along with Ammucare Charitable Trust.
Blankets and warm food parcels were distributed to three shelters housing orphans and abandoned street children, as well as to farmers and their families, day laborers and the city’s destitute street people.
Neerja Bhatia, Etihad Airways’ general manager in India, said: “We are delighted to work again with Monyati initiatives and hope we have managed to ease the burden of New Delhi’s underprivileged community and helped them withstand the cold weather.”
Monja Wolf, founder and managing director of Monyati Initiatives, said: “We are pleased to partner up with Etihad Airways again. This initiative is proof that small acts of kindness can and do make a huge impact on the lives of people in underprivileged communities.”
Etihad Airways recently supported welfare organizations in Katmandu as part of its CSR program in Nepal.
